Pin Browser Essentials Toolbar Button Policy in MS Edge Browser
Enabling or Disabling Browser Essential feature on Edge is very essential for users. It will notify you when your attention is required towards your browser’s performance. By pinning the Browser Essential button on toolbar will help you to monitor the browser performance any time.

Steps to Enable Disable Pin Browser Essentials Toolbar Button Setting
Using Microsoft 365 admin center, you can easily configure a policy to enable disable Pin Browser Essentials Toolbar Button. To access and configure this policy Open Microsoft 365 admin center. Go to Settings and select Microsoft Edge. After that, select Configuration Policies tab. Click on the +Create policy.
Basic Tab
On the Basic tab you can add Name and Description for the policy. Name is a mandatory field and you should add a proper name for the policy. Description is not compulsory, but is better to add the description for the policy. Here the Policy Type and Platform are automatically added.

- Description – This policy used to Enable or Disable Pin Browser Essentials Toolbar Button
- Policy Type – Intune
- Platform – Windows 10 and 11
- Click on the Next button
Settings Tab
The Settings tab is very important while creating policy. Click the Add setting option in the window below to add a setting. There are 2 option you can see to add settings. You can choose any of these.
After that, you can see many options, such as Additional Settings, Extensions, Performance, etc. Here, I choose Performance settings and select the Policy settings, PinBrowserEssentialToolbarButton (User). You can Enable or Disable this policy from the Value tab. If you want to Enable this policy select Enabled option and Click on the Select Button.
If you want to Disable this policy choose Disabled option on the Value tab. If you disable this policy, the Browser essentials button won’t be pinned on the toolbar. Then click on the Select button.
Near the Value tab you can see the More details tab, which show more information of the policy. You can check this details before configuring the policy. The below tab shows the information that you can see on the More Details tab.

After the verify the more details of PinBrowserEssentialToolbarButton (User) policy, I choose the Enabled option. If you enable or don’t configure this policy, the Browser Essentials button will be pinned on the toolbar. After the policy created i got the success notification on the portal.
Then you can close the configuration settings window. Then the created policy shown on the Settings page. Click on the Next button. Look at the below window for more clarity.
Extensions
The extensions tab helps you add extensions like Edge Add-on, Sidebar app, External extension, etc. This is optional for your policy. You can add an extension. Here, I skip this section and click on the Next button.
Assignments
The assignments tab is the most important; it helps you select groups to add to the policy chosen. You can use different groups for this. Click on the +Select group and select a Microsoft Entra group.
After choosing the group, you will receive a success notification. Click on the Next button to continue.
Finish Tab
The Finish Tab shows all the information that is added on the previous tabs. Here, you can verify all the sections and make changes quickly. After confirming the details, click on the Review and Create button. The screenshot below will help you. After that, you will receive a success notification on the portal.
Device and User Check-in Status
After creating the policy, you can sync your device to the company portal for faster deployment. After that, you can check the Device and user check-in status on the Intune Portal. To check the status, follow the steps.
- Home > Devices > Configuration
- Search your policy under the Policies tab
- Here, you can see the one that succeeded
Client Side Verification – Event Viewer
After creating the policy you should complete the client side Verification. To do this, you can use Event Viewer. Follow the below list to access the event viewer.
- Click on the Start Menu, Search Event Viewer, and open it.
- On the User Account Control window, click on the Yes button
- On the Event Viewer Navigate > Applications and Services Logs > Microsoft > Windows > DeviceManagement- Enterprise-Diagnostics-Provider > Admin

After the policy is created successfully, you can see the Browser Essentials button (heart with a pulse icon) on the Edge toolbar. It helps you to easily monitor browser performance as mentioned above. This screenshot shows the tab performance healthy.
End User Experience – Disabled Pin Browser Essentials Toolbar Button
When you disable the Pin Browser Essentials Toolbar Button policy, you can only see the Browser Essential button on the Edge toolbar when Performance Issue detected. The screenshot below shows, Browser Essentials button shows in red color indicate an issue has been detected. To resolve this issue, by closing or sleeping the listed tabs.
Here the tabs performance shows as unhealthy. This indicates high usage of resources. To bring back the browser a healthy, Close or sleep the tabs in Edge browser.
