Windows Local Groups Created by ConfigMgr 2012 SP1

imageConfigMgr 2012 SP1 creates Windows Accounts and these groups are used for various functions. CM 2012 SP1 creates 8 windows local groups. I’ve created a PDF file with following details of each windows group. Group Name, Where the Group should be Located, Group Membership Details, Use of this group and Permission Details of Group.Download the PDF file from here. Obviously, these details are there in TechNet. Some times it’s very difficult find these details from TechNet. I’ve posted Windows Local Groups comparison  between 2007 vs 2012 here.

1.ConfigMgr_CollectedFilesAccess :This group is used by Configuration Manager to grant access to view files collected by software inventory.
2.ConfigMgr_DViewAccess: This group is a local security group created on the site database server or database replica server by CM12. ↓ Read the rest of this entry…

Error The database is in Single User Mode and a User is Currently Connected to it

imageWith the release of SCCM 2012 SP1, We can have multiple SUPs under one primary server. One scenario that I want to test was Remote SUP with shared DB. Prior to SUP role installation, we need to install WSUS 3.0 SP2 on the remote SUP server along with WSUS patches (2720211 and 2734608).WSUS is installed successfully with shared DB (DB is located at my primary server). However, when I tried to install the patch it was giving me the following error.I’ve checked MSI3f93c.log file and then MWusCa.log. The second log was more specific.

Error 1722. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.  Action ExInstallSqlQuery, location: C:\Windows\Installer\MSIC2B8.tmp, command: -S ACNCMPRI -Q ” ↓ Read the rest of this entry…

TechEd India 2013 in Bengaluru March 18 and 19

Microsoft has announced TechEd India 2013 dates. Obviously,  ConfigMgr/SCCM lovers like me are more interested to go to MMS 2013.  Unfortunately, I won’t be able to make out to MMS this year as well. Another better opportunity is to meet up in TechEd India 2013. This year TechEd India is being rolled out in two cities Bangalore (March 18 and 19) and Pune (March 25 and 26). I didn’t find any voting for sessions this year. Last year we had some voting options for selecting some sessions. More details about last years voting sessions here.

I’m not pretty sure, why TechEd India 2013 is only for 2 days? When you look at other regional/country TechEd s, most are scheduled for 4 days ! Check out TechEd NA 2013 (it’s scheduled for June 2 to 6). Hope, I’ll meet you there in TechEd India 2013. Go ahead and register your seat from here.
